Here at Barefoot in Business we’re on a mission to empower our fellow female entrepreneurs in Uganda and inspire the next generation across the UK. We’ve teamed up with some of Britain’s top women in business to create a free Entrepreneurship Academy for schools that trains pupils in the basics of business and enables them to curate and sell their very own tote bag collection made by our talented team of tailors in Uganda.
This is a free program for schools funded through Barefoot in Business bag sales and sponsorship from individuals and organisations who share our passion for education and equality. Once you sign up, we’ll match-make you with a sponsor and tailor the program to your individual priorities and schedule.

THE PROCESS
This is a cross-curricular project that covers everything from numeracy to critical thinking, career guidance to ICT. It can be run as an in-class activity or a lunchtime/after-school club for specially selected students. Each module takes between 45 mins to 1 hour to complete and can be delivered at a time and pace that suits your school best.
We provide all the necessary resources to deliver the sessions independently along with a 30-piece Tote Bag Collection for your team to curate and sell. All of the money raised from the bag sales goes back to your school as a fundraiser.

WHAT THE TEACHERS SAY
“I would definitely recommend this project to other schools. It has been great to give the children real life experiences while meeting the outcomes of the Scottish curriculum. The class have really enjoyed themselves while learning lots.””
“I would absolutely recommend this project as it fosters a sense of community and focuses on teamwork and communication skills. It allows learners to work collaboratively to create their own business and use their creativity to promote it to others. It is an excellent real world opportunity to demonstrate these skills and to understand a little bit more about the world of business and entrepreneurship.”
“It provides a wonderful opportunity for pupils to learn about how to run a business and experience this themselves first hand. If I had to sum up this project in one word it would be inspiring!”
